(CLEVELAND, OH) The future of dirt racing at the American Sim Racing Series is uncertain as the calendar flips to 2020.  The focus of ASRS, and the point of much of the league’s success is the asphalt program including the Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series, the Grand National Series and the Truck Series along with the newly added All American Challenge Series for Super Late Models.

“We were disappointed in the turnout for Wicked Energy December Dirt Week, which drew a total of 23 drivers over three nights of racing action” stated ASRS President Jim Foose.  “We had interest in the event from almost double that amount but things didn’t work out there”.  “I’m thankful for our sponsor Wicked Energy Gum for everything they did for the event and happy with the racing we put on.  As it stands there is no dirt racing on our 2020 schedule”.

ASRS hasn’t hosted weekly dirt racing since May, when the Dirt Racing Series last raced as part of the Home Tracks Series.

“We’ve struggled with attracting a regular field of cars for our dirt events as well, one week we might have 20 and the next race there’s 12 cars competing, it’s hard to plan and it’s hard to sell that style of racing” Foose said,  “We did alot for dirt racing on the iRacing service and we tried to promote some great events, but it’s taken away from our bread and butter, the asphalt racing”.

While the future of dirt racing is uncertain, one thing that has not been determined is what will happen with December Dirt Week.
