May Madness Delivers Upsets in Opening Round at Texas!
Round 1 of May Madness is complete, and the opening night at Texas Motor Speedway delivered exactly what the bracket was built for: drama, surprises, and eight drivers moving one step closer to the title.
With head-to-head matchups deciding everything, seeds and standings meant little once the green flag dropped. Several favorites advanced, but the opening round also produced a handful of bracket-busting results.
Biggest Storylines from Texas
Kohan Pulls the 12 vs 5 Upset
The classic bracket result showed up again as Nick Kohan knocked off former champion Allan Young. Kohan entered as the season’s only two-time winner, then added a third victory by winning the race and advancing to the Quarterfinals.
Jaycox Stuns No. 3 Seed Crews
One of the biggest surprises of the opening round came in the 3 vs 14 matchup, where Kevin Jaycox moved on after tournament favorite AJ Crews did not start. Jaycox capitalized on the opportunity and advances to the Quarterfinals.
Ramsey Advances Over Bouchard
Another lower seed moved on as Caleb Ramsey advanced past seventh-seeded Christopher Bouchard, whose night was derailed after being collected in an accident, to reach the final eight.
Top Seeds Hold Strong
Andy Warren, Harley Wegman, Jordan Harnish, and Matt Vaade all handled business and remain alive heading into Charlotte.
