(CLEVELAND, OH) The new-era of racing at the American Sim Racing Series kicks off Wednesday, September 15th with the opening round of the ASRS Open Wheel Series.
The inaugural ASRS Open Wheel Series Schedule will visit nine oval tracks and two road courses during the championship season with a non-points street course exhibition to follow the championship race.
Homestead-Miami Speedway will kick off the inaugural season followed by Michigan International Speedway hosts the second event. Drivers will then be presented with the challenge of open wheel racing at a short track at the third round at Iowa Speedway. Kentucky will wrap up a four race streak of oval tracks.
Watkins Glen will host the first road course event October 13th with Texas Motor Speedway serving as the sixth event of the season. Mid Ohio Sports Car Course completes the road courses on the inaugural schedule before the championship battle heats up and heads back to the oval tracks.
The Milwaukee Mile hosts the “Throwback 125” before the Open Wheel Series heads West to Auto Club Speedway for the ninth round. The series then returns to the midwest for the final two events with Chicagoland Speedway hosting the penultimate race.
The Championship Finale on December 1st takes place at the “World’s Most Famous Race Course” Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In addition to being the championship race at the longest track on the schedule, Indianapolis will feature DOUBLE POINTS, all but ensuring a championship battle to the checkered flag.
But wait, there’s more! An exhibition race on the Streets of Chicago where it’s all about bragging rights heading into the holiday break will be held on December 15th. The Streets of Chicago will be the first street course to host ASRS racing in the nearly 20 year history of the American Sim Racing Series.
