Twitchy Race Reports
Race #1 of the 2nd Annual Twitchy Race Reports Triple Crown is in the books for 2018. This year the 3-race mini-series saw the UMP Modifieds take to the track to do battle. The opening race was held at the Knoxville Raceway in which 20 Drivers made the call to go after the $40 to Win prize and to try and be the only driver to be eligible for the “sweep bonus”.
Following Qualifying it was Jared Mogard in his #00 TRR ride set quick time followed by Todd LaBoube 2nd, Daniel Deffler 3rd, Brad Cross 4th, and Brandon Boyd rounded out the top 5. Boyd however would have to go to the back as he was not pre-entered for the opening race of the series.
The race only seen 3 yellows and to everyone’s surprise a good long green flag run. The first 32 laps of the event went green which saw Mogard jump to the race lead running the bottom of the Knoxville Raceway. Mogard would have to fend off multiple challenges from LaBoube who would work both the top and bottom of the track to try and get by Mogard. As they began to battle Trevor Brownlee would find the top shelf and run down the top two drivers making it a 3-car battle for the top spot.
As mentioned the first yellow was on lap 32 and from the restart the 3 drivers would continue to battle before another yellow with roughly 13 to go. Again, following the restart Mogard, LaBoube, and Brownlee would do battle for the top spot. A late race restart would set up a green/white/checkers finish in which Mogard would get the jump and cruise to the Win. Mogard would get his 37th career ASRS victory and picked up race 1 of 3 on the Twitchy Race Reports Triple Crown. Mogard’s win allowed him to pocket $40 for the win and makes him the only driver eligible for the “sweep bonus”. Rounding out the top 5 was Trevor Brownlee 2nd, Justin Kruithof 3rd, Brad Cross 4th, and Daniel Deffler rounded out the top 5.
Be sure to check back next Thursday as the cars and stars of the TRR Triple Crown head to the Limaland Speedway for another #Run50 event. Can Mogard pocket another $40 and keep his sweep bonus alive? Or will Brownlee, Kruithof, or the dirt master Cross Visit Victory Lane. These questions will be answered next week!!!!!
