(CLEVELAND, OH) Officials announced the 2021 Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series Schedule today, which features a vastly different look from 2020. The 2021 schedule features three new venues. The biggest change is perhaps not the track line up though, as the series moves to Wednesday nights in 2021 in an effort to increase viewership and participation.
The success of 2020 will carry over to 2021, as the caution percentage for the series remains under 20% for the entire season. Green flag pit stops have become the norm for ASRS and with tire limits the drivers faced multiple strategies to win each race.
Road Courses Take Center Stage
Five Road Course events are on the 2021 Schedule with Circuit of the Americas and Road America joining the three returning road courses from 2020, Sonoma Raceway, Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Roval. COTA, Sonoma and Road America will be timed races (75 minutes), which is a new aspect for the Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series and gives drivers another challenge at the road courses.
Nashville Superspeedway Joins the Cup Series (maybe)
The 1.33 mile Nashville Superspeedway is slated to join the Hacksaw Premier Cup Series in 2021 pending release from iRacing.com in time for the event. In the event Nashville Superspeedway is not available for the June 16th scheduled event, a backup plan includes adjusting the summer portion of the schedule or moving the event to another track.
Double Dates Removed for Many Tracks
Pocono Raceway, home of the first doubleheader will lose that distinction in 2021 as the event moves to Chicagoland Speedway. Pocono will host one date in late June. Texas Motor Speedway loses it’s second date for Atlanta Motor Speedway to host a second date, a 250 mile event as the penultimate event of the season. Martinsville and Bristol move to just one race on the schedule.
Kentucky Bites The Dust
Originally scheduled to host a race, Kentucky Speedway has been dropped from the schedule in favor of a second Richmond event, Kentucky will become a stand-alone event for the Grand National Series in 2021 as the focus on 1.5 mile tracks diminishes.
Playoffs Feature a very Historic Look
The Final Four Championship races will see a slight alteration in 2021 as North Wilkesboro Speedway replaces Texas Motor Speedway (diehard stock car racing fans rejoice!) as host to a Playoff event.
Cup Stand Alones
Much like the Development Series have stand alone events, in which that particular series is the only event at the track, the Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series will race at tracks that are not featured on other schedules including Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (oval), New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, Watkins Glen International, Charlotte Roval and Circuit of the Americas. Each series has been given its own identity and the diverse schedules allow for that.
The 2021 Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series is well rounded and promotes the best racing ASRS has to offer. For the third consecutive year, 3 Wide TV will broadcast the entire season.
To qualify for the Hacksaw PC’s Premier Cup Series, new members will be required to go through a five race “Road to Premier” Series in December and January to become one of the 55 invitees to the series for 2021.
