(CLEVELAND, OH) The Grand National Series will launch as a development series for drivers looking to join the Premier Series. Following a similar concept to the HRE Motorsports Super Truck Series, the ASRS Grand National Series will add tracks larger than one mile in length to the schedule, which will feature a diversified mix of short tracks, mile tracks, intermediate speedways and road courses.

The Grand National Series will compete on Wednesday nights as part of the ASRS Home Tracks Series and serve as a direct pipeline into the Tuesday night Sam Maxwell Customs Premier Series, racing on many of the same tracks as that series.

“We expect the racing to be close competition and the championship to be even closer with the diversity of the schedule” said ASRS President Jim Foose. “With only ten races on the slate, there is really no good time for a bad race and that will put an emphasis on racing clean and finishing races. With the inaugural ASRS trip to the “Roval”, things are sure to be shaken up after that race and visits to Five Flags Speedway and The Milwaukee Mile, tracks that are not on the 2018 Premier Series Schedule, you are going to see drivers who adapt quickly to different tracks succeed in this series”.

The Grand National Series will utilize the NASCAR Xfinity Series cars including the Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang and the Toyota Camry for the time being, although series officials remain optimistic that the Toyota Supra will be ready for competition by September.  

Fixed setups along with dynamic weather, dynamic track surfaces and the new dynamic time of day settings will all be used for the series.  Exact time of day settings for each event are under review and will be released before the season kicks off September 11th, however two night races have been announced at Bristol Motor Speedway and Richmond Raceway.  

The full rules package including driver eligibility will be released mid summer, but is expected to be similar to the HRE Motorsports Super Truck Series.  The Grand National Series will be free to join, as no Premier Series License will be required.
