We are proud to announce a special event, the Janet Watkins Memorial Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness 250. The event is in memory of AEA founder Jim Foose’s grandmother who passed away in 2018 from Pulmonary Fibrosis.

The event will be scheduled later in 2019 and will be a pay to enter race with a 50/50 purse. 50% of the proceeds will be paid out to the top finishers, 50% will be donated in her honor to charities selected by the family (Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation & St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital).

The race will be 250 laps at Iowa Speedway and will carry a similar format to our Cup Series events.  We will start up to 40 cars.  3 Wide TV broadcast the event.

The Race will begin under the sun and wrap up under the lights of Iowa Speedway, which is notorious for great racing under the hot sun and slick conditions.

“Our hope is that we will see cars slipping and sliding around, when that happens we put on great races and Iowa’s aged 7/8 mile surface is known for changing from day to night” Jim Foose, American E-Sports Association Promoter stated. “We will take full advantage of the new day to night feature iRacing has implemented and watch as not only the sun sets but as the track grip changes, it’s going to be a fun race and we are supporting great causes with it.”

Ironically, Janet was 78 years old when she passed away November 15, 2018 and the race in her memory will be run on a 7/8 mile track.

Grandma

“It’s a cool way to honor my grandmother and help out some great causes along the way, helping people was my grandmother’s mission in life and she spent many years volunteering with her church, various charities and helping people in need.  I’m very lucky to have had her in my life and feel very honored that my group, the American E-Sports Association, has positioned ourselves to put on an event like this” Jim Foose said of the event.

Entries for the event are open to AEA Members currently and will open to the public in early March.
