Kohan Overcomes Near Disaster to Win at Phoenix
After a DNF last week at the Nashville Fairgrounds, Nick Kohan knew the pressure was on to hit the track running as the Tweedcast Truck Series headed to Phoenix Raceway. And that he did, starting on the pole, leading the most laps and winning the 80 lap battle in the desert, but it wasn’t as easy as the stat line reads. Kohan was turned around backwards with three laps to go which brought out the race’s first caution, then restarted the third and took the lead to score the victory as trouble in turn 2 ended the race during the green-white-checkered.
When the dust settled, Kohan was the winner at Phoenix. Anthony Debaro (2nd), AJ Crews (3rd), Jim Foose (4th) and Christopher Bouchard (5th) completed the top five.
Koahn retook the championship lead, after a post race penalty at Nashville moved him back to third and now leads AJ Crews by 4 points, Andy Warren by 13, Allan Young is -21 and Jim Foose sits fifth -23 points to the leader. The Tweedcast Truck Series heads to Talladega next week as the final three races await to crown a champion.
