Crews Wins at Phoenix, Closes in on Championship Battle
AJ Crews left Phoenix Raceway with not only the trophy in hand but a chance to race for the Tweedcast Truck Series Championship next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway after closing to within four points of leader Allan Young.
AJ Crews started on the pole but quickly reliquished the lead to Championship leader Allan Young, the 2022 Tweedcast Truck Series Champion. Young held the lead until green flag pit stops 60 laps later when Crews reassumed the lead before the race’s only caution. Andy Warren took the lead under the caution and held on until the closing laps when Crews passed for the lead. Crews took the win with Warren (2nd), Young (3rd), Jonathan Holstein (4th) and Jim Foose (5th) completing the top five finishers
Young still holds onto a two-point lead over Warren and four points over Crews as the Tweedcast Truck Series Championship Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway is next week. Jim Foose -32 points in fourth remains mathematically eligible but unlikely to overcome the deficit.
