(CLEVELAND, OH) Off Camber TV (OCTV) has joined the American Sim Racing Series to broadcast the full 25 race 2017 ASRS Truck Series Schedule.  OCTV joined ASRS for the final two races of the 2016 season.  

The 2017 campaign kicks off Tuesday, February 21 at Daytona International Speedway as the tailgaters are set for the Sam Maxwell Customs 125.  Defending series champion Jim Foose looks to capture his second Daytona win, and first in eight years, while 2016 runner up Robby Baskins looks to defend his Daytona win from one year ago.  Both drivers are among the thirteen drivers exempt from having to qualify for the race on time.  

Qualifying for the season opening Sam Maxwell Customs 125 at Daytona has a unique qualifying format that see those thirteen drivers guaranteed starting positions in the 36 truck field, allowing 23 drivers to qualify on time.  

“This is a huge deal for all of us at ASRS and we our partners at OCTV, as we have an opportunity to grow together” ASRS President Jim Foose said of the new partnership.  “The coverage they gave us in the closing races of the 2016 season was phenomenal and how they covered the excitement and edge of your seat action of the season finale at Homestead-Miami, I knew then that I wanted to work with this group for 2017 and for many years to come.  We’ve had broadcasters in the past that focused their attention and the cameras on a few drivers, leaving the rest of the field and a majority of the action out of the broadcasts.  With the guys at OCTV, I know if there’s action they will focus on it, even if it’s for 35th position”.

The addition of broadcasting back to the ASRS Truck Series brings things full circle for ASRS.  Early in 2016 changes led to the series being dropped by another broadcaster before the first race took the green flag.  That was a tough blow but ASRS survived, rebuilt and rebounded even stronger than it was before “the split”.  

“We couldn’t have done the broadcast deal without our great members and their support of them, several drivers sponsored race broadcasts this season and we had a few sponsors approach us for ways to get involved in the league and the Truck Series for 2017” Foose said.  “Every single race of the 25 race schedule is sponsored this year, we’ve never had that in the past, these guys are an awesome group to work with and by far the best group of drivers I’ve ever worked with.”

The ASRS Truck Series runs 25 races from February to November, running at all the tracks the NASCAR trucks race on plus Auto Club Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway, Richmond International Raceway and Rockingham Speedway.  2017 will mark the debut of Eldora Speedway as the inaugural dirt race for the series.
