Chocano Scores South Boston Upset Victory!
The Tweedcast Digital Creations Truck Series was back in action after the scheduled summer break and took on the shortest track on the schedule, the 4/10 mile South Boston Speedway.
AJ Crews kicks off the event on the right foot, taking the Speedway Action Images Quick Time in Qualifying and led the field to the green flag for 125 laps of short track racing. Crews lead would be short lived as Alonso Chocano would take the lead on the lap 13 restart and not look back, through a 90+ lap green flag run Chocano and Crews would swap the lead briefly as the leaders raced through heavy lapped traffic. Two late restarts would be all Chocano would need to score his first ASR victory in his Tweedcast Truck Series debut. AJ Crews would have to settle for second with Andy Warren (3rd), Michael Whiting (4th) and Jeff Dillon (5th) completing the top five.
The championship standings saw Andy Warren extend his championship lead over defending champion Allan Young, who exited the race early after contact put the #24 behind the wall. The Playoff leader board saw Harley Wegman jump to 10th with Matt Vaade falling out to 11th with four races remaining in the regular season.
