(CLEVELAND, OH) There’s a fresh addition to the 2020 ASRS Contingency Award package, the Norm Foose Sportsmanship Award.
The Norm Foose Sportsmanship Award will be awarded to one member each year who demonstrates excellence in sportsmanship throughout the season. Drivers must meet minimum participation and be nominated by their peers and the nomination must be confirmed by other members before the voting panel will select the winner at the end of the season.
Norm Foose, who passed away on December 15, 2019 was the grandfather of ASRS Founder and Promoter Jim Foose. His contributions to racing were winning an Ohio State Championship Demolition Derby, lettering cars that raced in NASCAR, USAC, MARC (which became ARCA) and the Indianapolis 500. Norm also owned various racecars at the local northeast Ohio race tracks. Norm lived by the mantra “It’s nice to be important, but it’s important to be nice”.
Norm Foose attended his final race in 2015, the Eldora Dirt Derby NASCAR Gander RV’s & Outdoors Truck Series event at Eldora Speedway but remained an avid race fan his entire life.
Nominations will begin later this year with the recipient of the Norm Foose Sportsmanship Award receiving a one year iRacing.com Membership (a $110 value).
