(MYRTLE BEACH, SC) When the Short Track Pro Series announced it’s schedule for the fall season, Myrtle Beach was the big question mark in many drivers’ minds as the track was a brand new addition to the schedule.
Many questions were answered early on in the evening as the usual suspects found speed at the oddly shaped 4/10 mile track. Jared Mogard and Ty Hester qualified on the front row and for the majority of the race those two battled for the win. Stephen Pearce was the only other driver to lead a lap and break up the domination up front.
In all Mogard would lead 63 of the 125 laps, scoring the victory in a race that saw 10 cautions slow the pace for 49 laps. Hester was second followed by Tyler Reed, Scott Smith and Travis Wright rounded out the top five.
Hester took over the championship lead, now leading Jason Stewart by four points as the series heads to Rockingham Speedway.
