(MECHANICSBURG, PA) The Perch’n Sprint Car Series was in action from the famous Williams Grove Speedway for 30 lap events.
The first race had 12 drivers show up. At the end of qualifying it was Matt Vaada grab the pole with Brad Cross 2nd, Jared Mogard 3rd, John Kennedy 4th, and Collin Penn 5th. There were only a couple yellows in the 30 lap event. For the 2nd race there were 9 drivers make the trip for the 2nd race.
Matt Vaade got the pole, Jared Mogard 2nd, Jay Graves 3rd, Brad Cross 4th, and Jim Foose rounded out the top 5. The race was dominated by Matt Vaade for most of the event. However a late race yellow with 10 laps to go changed everything. Vaade controlled the restart with Cross, Kennedy, and Mogard looking to pounce. Off the restart it was Matt and Brad racing side by side with Kennedy and Mogard right behind them.
Going into turn 1 Vaade would clip the end of the inside guard rail in turn 1 which would cause him to push up the track sending him from the race lead to 4th. Brad would grab the lead and would have to fend off a hard charging teammate in the forms of John Kennedy. Kennedy was running the top shelf and got to the back of Brad but he would jump the couching and cost him the race. The top 5 would be Brad Cross grabbing the WIN yet again with John Kennedy 2nd, Jared Mogard 3rd, Matt Vaade 4th, and Jim Foose rounded out the top 5. This is Brad’s 12th career ASRS Victory.
For race #2 on the evening it seen Matt Vaade dominate leaving no doubt in this race. He only had to deal with one restart and off that restart he had to fend off a hard charging Mogard who was reeling in Matt slowly before the only yellow flew. Vaada hung on and cruised on to his 11th career ASRS Victory followed by Mogard 2nd, Penn 3rd, Stewart 4th, and Foose 5th.
Tune back in toward the end of the month on the 23rd when the Sprint Cars will run their final double header before crowing the 2017 Dirt Sprint Car Series.
