(ROCKINGHAM, NC) Rockingham Speedway once again played host to ASRS racing this week as the Skeeber Flob’s Kettle Corn Pro Series headed to the one mile track just one night after the Xfinity Series left the high banks.
Michael Atkins, Jr. led the field of 21 to the green flag. A caution at lap nine slowed the field, before the race took a green flag feel. Mid-race brought about green flag pit stops as nearly the entire field completed their stops for fresh tires and fuel. One driver, Shawn Musick was able to stay on the track long enough to catch a caution flag before he made his way to pit road. With the tire fall off, the rest of the field was able to nearly catch Musick prior to the caution.
The race was on from there as Tom Giannini, Ty Hester, Michael Atkins and Danny Rodgers swapped the lead over the course of the second half. In the end it was Atkins who emerged as the leader at the end.
A caution with two laps to go ended the race under the control of the pace car with Atkins taking the win, followed by Danny Rodgers, Jared Mogard, Ty Hester and Jim Foose in fifth.
Atkins leads the championship by seven over Mogard as the Skeeber Flob’s Kettle Corn Pro Series heads to Kentucky Speedway next week.
