(DARLINGTON, SC) The ASRS Xfinity Series has gained a little identity for itself with the addition of Darlington Raceway to the 2017 schedule on August 29th, 2017.
Darlington replaces a strangely scheduled Michigan race (two months after the NASCAR Xfinity Series hits the 2 mile track) and now aligns the Darlington race in 2017 with the NASCAR date. The move also provides ASRS drivers a chance to honor their favorite NASCAR Xfinity Series legends with retro inspired paint schemes.
Darlington will not be new to Xfinity competition, as the series hosted an event in 2014 at the “Track Too Tough To Tame”.
“We tried to schedules races in 2016 that provided more uses for tracks than just one race, but that came at the cost of an identity for the Xfinity Series, which essentially raced at selected tracks from Camping World Truck Series. For 2017, after much input from our members we have decided to add Darlington in as an Xfinity only track with plans to possibly add more tracks to that series that give it a unique identity” said ASRS President Jim Foose. “I know many of our drivers enjoy Darlington and have asked for the track to be added to our schedule, so this move seems to fit well with what our drivers want, and I couldn’t be more excited about our return to Darlington after a two year absence”.
