(OXFORD, ME) The Super Late Model Tour headed to Maine for it’s annual Oxford Plains event, this year expanded to 125 laps over the recent 100 lap main events.
Justin Fuller led the field to the green flag with Jim Foose alongside, Fuller jumped to the early lead over Foose as the race stayed green for 66 laps.
Justin Blackdeer remained on the track as the rest of the drivers pitted for service. Blackdeer led the field back to green and until lap 75, when Fuller retook the lead. A caution on lap 97 changed everything up front, as Foose was running second when the caution flew for the #10 of Jared Mogard.
Foose elected to stay on the track as did Matt Vaade and Ernest Smith. Fuller charged from the fourth position on the restart, while Vaade and Foose battled up front. Fuller would battle Vaade for several laps, allowing Mogard to get by for second. Mogard tried everything he had to pass Foose’s #42, but couldn’t. Mogard eventually spun around on lap 110, setting the race up for a 10 lap dash to the finish.
Foose and Fuller both got great restarts, with Fuller battling Foose on the outside, but Foose pulled away to a small lead just as Ernest Smith’s #34 spun after contact with Mogard on lap 122.
Foose scored his second victory of the 2016 season, Mogard second with Fuller third, Blackdeer was fourth and Vaade ended the race fifth.
Vaade holds a nine point lead over Foose as the Super Late Model Tour heads to Concord Motorsports Park August 10th.
