(Thompson, CT) Just like apple pie is synonymous with America, short track racing is as much a part of ASRS. Jordan Harnish, the 2014 ASRS Super Late Model Tour Champion, hadn’t raced the short tracks in months partly due to injury.
Harnish didn’t miss a beat thought, turning the fastest lap in qualifying that saw 29 drivers take time to make the 24 car grid. Kris Titus, Jason Stewart, Jonathan Phelps, Todd Kirkwood and Don Runkle failed to qualify.
Harnish would jump to the lead and would lead a total of 94 laps in a race that saw a season low two lead changes in the 100 lap race. Jared Mogard was the only other leader in the #00. The race saw nine cautions, most of which drivers chalked up to “short track racing”.
With Harnish taking the checkered flag, Ty Hester returned to action to finish second followed by TJ Graves in third, Mogard fourth and championship leader Matt Vaade rounding out the top five.
Vaade leads the championship standings by 10 points over Graves as the Super Late Model Tour heads to Five Flags Speedway on May 25th.
