When iRacing announced that dirt racing was coming to the service, many questioned the timeline of “later this year”.  Last week, iRacing showed off three shiny new dirt cars.

The Dirt Late Model represents one of the most competitive racing divisions on dirt.  Several sanctioning bodies hold races and thousands of racers strap into their dirt late models each weekend at small tracks across America.

The fan favorite dirt car and arguably the most popular dirt series is the Sprint Car.  From the World of Outlaws to weekly short track racing the Sprint Car is a universal platform.  Each series may have different rules pertaining to engines, tires and other technical elements, but the bare car is raced just about everywhere in the country, and internationally in places like Australia.

That brings us to the grassroots racers, racing in Small Town USA at bullrings that dot the map quite heavily.  The Street Stock ranges from an entry level racing series to big dollar traveling series depending on the geographical location.  It’s usually a fan favorite since the drivers generally are lesser experienced and action occurs all over the track.

So what does all this have to do with ASRS?  The dirt series is expected to hit full throttle in the upcoming summer.  But first, iRacing has to release the first wave of dirt cars and tracks, and that is coming in three weeks.
